Spetses is farthest from Athens of the islands in the Saronic islands. Spetses are a favourite island for people from Athens, which is particularly noticeable during the weekends and in August. Spetses is the island's only village. It is dominated almost completely by the area around the harbour Dapia, and the long harbour promenade that stretches all the way to the old port. Spetses offers numerous beaches of varying quality. Most are small and consist mainly of shingle and coarse-grained sand.
