Ermoupolis oldest parts are called Ano Syros and it is
located in one of the town's two hills. The Catholic Cathedral of Saint
George at the top is visible from afar. Ano Syros is a town in the
town, and once you have entered through the walls you find yourself
strolling around warren alleyways with tiny winding streets and ancient
staircases. Getting in is not difficult, there is an upper and a lower
gate, but to get out again is not as easy. Either you go astray, or
you fall in love in the village's picturesque appearance and stopping
just because of that, or maybe you get stuck on one of the taverns.
The view from Ano Syros is superb; you have the whole Ermoupolis and
the deep blue sea beneath you. Home »
